IT IS PART OF THE FAMILY
For many, a wood stove is part of the family, and knowing that you can go home to a warm house at the end of a hard day, well…that’s just special. Join me, as I take you on a short journey to learn more about our amazing wood burning stoves. Each stove has been carefully selected from both South African and European manufacturers for their individual quality, energy efficiency and factory warrantee’s.
Wood stoves can be classified in two groups, “Radiant wood Stoves” & “Convection wood stoves”
RADIANT WOOD STOVES
These stoves emit heat from the front, top & sides. The ambient air inside the room will get heated by the heat waves generated by the hot Radiant stove. In most cases Radiant stoves are free standing and they heat a room and everything in close proximity relatively fast. Radiant stoves have a more traditional look than the “Convection” type and care must be taken not to touch the outside of the stove when in operation. This type of stove requires larger clearance space between the stove and combustible materials.
CONVECTION STOVES
Convection stoves circulate warm air around a room due to a cavity at the bottom and the sides of the firebox and the external panel of the unit. A concealed port at the bottom of the stove sucks in ambient air from the room and releases warm air through the glass and the cavity between the external walls of the unit and the firebox.
“Home is where the heart is” so the saying goes…I say “home is a warm place with my dogs
next to me” but whatever your definition of a home it’s always better when it’s warm during
winter. Ask anyone who has already invested in a wood stove and they will tell you that it’s “the
heart of their home”
As a child, my siblings and I would get ready for school during winter months in front of a wood
stove.it was the same for my farther and for his farther. Today millions of people throughout the world that have a woodstove in their homes get by
through winter in a similar manner, whether it’s in a small cabin in the mountains of Russia or in
a comfortable house in the suburbs.
